As you know, most myths and legends often have some truth as the basis for their origin. miriam_e wrote a very touching story regarding a possible origin for the legend of Medusa. What if it was all just a tragic misunderstanding based on prejudice and ignorance?

Unfortunately, the link to the story no longer works.

I won't give away Miriam's story, but another example is how the myth of mermaids is said to come from sailors seeing seals or some other seacreature with seaweed on their heads sunning themselves on rocks.

Find a legend and rewrite it the way it really happened.
